Spinal Injury Awareness Month
Spinal Cord Injury Awareness month is the month of September. A spinal cord injury (SCI) is a neurological condition that may occur due to sudden impact to the spine often causing permanent loss of function, sensation and strength below the site of the injury.
Neuro Junctions’ dedicated team of Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists can assist in managing the effects of a spinal cord injury (SCI) through rehabilitation treatments and provision of assistive technology. This is to allow our clients with SCI to live productive and independent lives. Our therapists conduct assessments to determine strengths, weakness and difficulties in order to improve functional deficits and reduce fatigue levels. Some rehabilitation techniques our therapists may use include:
Tailored Home Exercise Programmes
Strength training
Cardiovascular exercises
Respiratory conditioning
Mobility training including wheelchair skills
Contracture management
Occupational Therapy - provision of assistive technology/adaptive equipment
